PM Narendra Modi Calls for Competency from DRDO in Cyber Domain
Describing cyber security to be as vital as securing India's borders,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called for greater competency in
the cyber domain through more scientific innovations in the field.
During an event held to commemorate APJ Abdul Kalam's Birth anniversary,
Modi also called for an annual seminar to be held on the same day,
pushing his previous stand on induction of younger scientists in DRDO,
"We can hold a seminar for scientists under 35, innovators, those with a
scientific temper and even school children to collaborate and share
ideas", adding further that 'remembering Kalam would mean promoting
innovation'.
The Prime Minister further stated the importance of a blue economy, a
sustainable development model attracting businesses throughout the
world. Supporting the search for oceanic resources, he reiterated the
abundant resources available to India in its maritime domain, while also
highlighting the growing concern for the climate and environment.
He also called for greater innovations in the field of agriculture to
understand how science can be applied to uplift the living standard of
farmers in India. Highlighting the former Presidents contribution in
ensuring technology enables quick relief and rehabilitation post the
Bhuj Earthquake, Modi added "I remember during our interactions how he
guided us in all things no matter how small".
Along with this the Prime Minster also unveiled a bust and released postal stamps in memory of the former President.
