3. On 11 Sept 1965, 18 Cavalry was to capture the twin villages and BOP of Karur with a company of 1 SIKH Light Infantry. The Infantry could not marry up in time due to hostile enemy artillery fire so Maj Poplai, of 18 Cavalry, decided to carry out the task on his own and captured the objectives swiftly. #GJC1965
