Russian Defense Firm Signs Contract to Deliver Spare Parts for T-72 Tanks to India
India is going to modernize a large number of tanks, both T-72s and T-90s.
The Russian defense enterprise Uralvagonzavod signed a contract worth
millions of US dollars at the Russia Arms Expo -2015 arms exhibition for
the delivery of spare parts for T-72 tanks to India, Uralvagonzavod
Deputy CEO Alexei Zharich told TASS on Monday.
"As a result of negotiations, a multimillion contract was signed with
the Republic of India at the Russia Arms Expo exhibition for the
delivery of spare parts for T-72 tanks. The contract is designed for 2
years," he said.
Uralvagonzavod CEO Oleg Siyenko said in an interview with TASS earlier
that the company had submitted its proposals to India on the upgrade of
T-72 and T-90 tanks operational in the Indian Army.
"The Indian side said it was going to modernize a large number of tanks,
both T-72s and T-90s. We transferred all the proposals on the
modernization packages both for the first and second types of tanks," he
said.
The Russia Arms Expo-2015 exhibition was held in Nizhny Tagil in the
Urals on September 9-12 and brought together delegations from over 65
countries, including the United States, China, India and European
countries. Overall, the exhibition was attended by almost 50,000 people.
